What is the MOT Test and How to Pass it?
An MOT test is an annual examination to assess the seaworthiness of vehicles in the UK. It is a critical examination for any vehicle to pass; however, with the right guidance and preparation, your vehicle can clear this test with ease.
What is the MOT test?

The MOT check is a critical assessment that a vehicle has to undergo for it to be considered safe and roadworthy in the UK. It is both a legal and safety requirement that a vehicle has to live up to prove its airworthiness. The MOT (Ministry of Transport) check is a mandatory test that is conducted annually for vehicles that are over three years old.

If your vehicle and its parts are not in their best shape, then it will likely fail the checks. However, this is not to scare you, and it doesn’t mean that it is hard for the vehicle to clear the MOT test. You just have to prepare the vehicle for the MOT Test Uxbridge and take meticulous care of each vehicle component.
How to Know that it’s Time for an MOT Test?

If the registered date of the vehicle is more than three years, then it is a clear-cut indication for the MOT test. After three years of age of the vehicle, an MOT test is to be done every year on the vehicle at the same time or month as the first MOT test.

Upon clearing the MOT test for the vehicle, you get an MOT certificate that mentions the date of the MOT test as well as its expiry date. So, before the expiry date of the MOT test comes, it means that it is time to get the vehicle retested. This is the general information or requirement for the MOT test. However, all such information is given to the car owner when they purchase a new vehicle.

How to Pass the MOT Test?

To pass the MOT test, you have to prepare a pre-MOT checklist for the vehicle. Preparing the checklist and doing the corrections beforehand will save you a lot of time and expenses before you take the vehicle to the MOT test.

Here is how you prepare a pre-MOT checklist.
Light Check

Lighting of the vehicle or the faults in it are among the common reasons for failure in the MOT test. There are a lot of lights in a car, such as the headlights, taillights, hazard lights, side lights, brake lights, and number plate lights. All of them have to be working properly and should be pre-checked before the MOT test.

Headlights should be in alignment, and all the lights with high beams and dipped beams should work correctly. If there are any defective, damaged, or burnt bulbs, then they should be replaced immediately. All lights, whether big or small, headlights or indicator lights, should work perfectly and flawlessly.
Brakes Check
The brakes of the vehicle have to be working right since faulty brakes are a big safety hazard. They are assessed in the MOT test, and faulty brakes are one of the common reasons for the failure of a vehicle to pass the MOT checks. Correctly functioning brakes are not the requirements for the MOT pass but are essential for vehicle safety as well.

For checking the brakes, a special assessment is called the roller brake check, in which the brakes have to work perfectly when the vehicle is on the rollers. The brakes should have a firm grip and control and should be able to be handled effectively. They have to decelerate perfectly as well. The brakes, when used, should be able to get the car stopped vertically, and the car's position should not even be slightly changed. Also, the brakes should work nicely on the steep incline and rough surfaces as well.

Tyres and Wheels

The wheels of your vehicle should have to be in proper alignment, and all of its components should be in the correct proportion. There has to be no fault or damaged elements of the wheels in your vehicle. you should check it thoroughly Bolts, center disc, and gearbox: everything has to be in good condition. They should be securely attached to the car. In case of major faults, get it repaired by Gearbox Repair Uxbridge. Also, the tyres have to be in good condition; make sure to check that the tyres do not have any cracks or bulges and should not be worn out.

Damaged tyres should be replaced right away since having them repaired might not be the best option if you want to make sure that your vehicle clears the MOT. Also, the tread should not be below the legal limit of 1.6 mm. Check the tread depth, and replace the tyre if the tread depth is too low. Air pressure in the tyre should be proper and not overly under-inflated.

Mirrors and Screens

All the parts of the bodywork of the vehicle should be thoroughly checked, including all the mirrors, windscreen, doors, wiper blades, etc. The doors should be attached securely and properly. There should be no cracks or damaged mirrors. Mirrors have to be clear and of great quality because they are used for viewing the surrounding vehicles and, therefore, are crucial aspects of vehicle safety.

To make sure that your vehicle is apt and ready to undergo the MOT, get it checked by a professional. At KS Autos, we run comprehensive checks on vehicles to ensure that they pass the cheap MOT check.
